ExpressVPN Disables Feature Due to Bug, Assures Minimal Impact

ExpressVPN, a leading provider of VPN services, has temporarily disabled a popular feature after discovering a bug in one of its products. The company took swift action to investigate the issue and release an update that removed the affected feature until a fix could be deployed.

The bug primarily affects a small percentage of users on a specific app platform, namely Version 12 for Windows. ExpressVPN clarified that the issue arises only when using the split tunneling mode “Only allow selected apps to use the VPN.” Even within this subset, the bug occurs sporadically, with most users unaffected.”We were only able to replicate the issue in certain cases,” ExpressVPN stated, reassuring users that their traffic remains secure.

Those who have not activated split tunneling or have chosen the alternative mode, “Do not allow selected apps to use the VPN,” are unaffected. The bug does not compromise other VPN protections, such as encryption.ExpressVPN emphasized that the DNS issue prompted the temporary disablement of the feature to ensure user security. While the company works on resolving the bug, users are advised to monitor ExpressVPN for updates. Notably, split tunneling remains available in Version 10 of the Windows app, providing users with alternative functionality in the interim.

Overall, ExpressVPN aims to swiftly address the bug to restore the feature’s functionality and maintain its commitment to providing secure and reliable VPN services to users worldwide.
